I am getting a crash course in real esl teaching, meaning I feel like an idiot most of the time. My collab teacher is too good
Bus late. Is this some sort of punishment? Old lady walked off in disgust.
Switching gears, I’ve noticed that many high school boys are now wearing decidedly non uniform belts of the shibuya boy type
By “stuff” I meant Philadelphia libraries closing and by everyone involved I meant everyone in Philadelphia. Which is a place I used to live
I can’t even comment on library stuff anymore, it just makes me angry (at everyone involved).
Recently I have been asked by students if I play dating simulations and whether people outside of japan eat edamame.
And jr Kobe is LATE. Are you kidding me?
new iTunes ToS: “You agree not to use this service outside the US…” In the internet age, when I have a US credit card? Uhhh
I have to repost this one: a seventh grader asked me if I owned a gun in class today. Then-“is America safe?”
After today, I will not be kicked out of Japan, will be allowed to re-enter Japan if I leave, and don’t owe anyone money.
Well, except my boyfriend. But he’s not here yet. Friday!
Wait, there’s controversy about Obama’s “Stay in school” speech??? Is everyone okay over there?
Paid day off that is. And I don’t have to wear work clothes. Eyeliner!!
I had it easy last time, my ward office wasn’t far away. Bonus: I get a full day off to do immigration paperwork business
http://twitpic.com/gxmad - YES!!!!
Rice paddies. This is not my typical bus ride.
http://twitpic.com/gotc3 - Went to outlet mall today; ocean still there, still smelling like salt.
I am just trying to get to the good 100yen store before it closes, which might not happen. Ugh
Why is everything on jr Kobe always busted? The turnstiles, the ic recharge machines.
What on earth is this japan “building ties with china” = “breaking ties with the us” junk? Get over yourselves nyt.
At the bus stop, at the bus stop, everyday at the bus stop

I spent around three hundred, which is ok because I needed a kitchen table and other things (and delivery of said table).
Taking the free shuttle to ikea with a bunch of excited people. (ikea is on an island so annoying to get to by train)
I LOVE filling in forms online (for something in Japanese) only for all my US credit cards to be mysteriously rejected. Thanks!
But, my stuff from Amazon.jp (which does not care that I have nasty US credit cards) just got here.
Ran for the subway this morning, oops. I swore I’d never do that. (was on time)
Uhh so if you order from amazon.jp you can pick it up at a convenience store. WEIRD.
It also lets me make my purchase in USD!! Crazy, but nice, since I don’t have a Japanese credit card (need to fix this).
http://twitpic.com/fft12 - Stickers say Oahu is “heart of Hawaii”. Huh??
Info in English on upcoming election http://bit.ly/YTxrm
Come on, guys, swine flu is old news in the US. (That was directed at EVERYONE here.)
Re: gossip girl spoiler - it’s about time! (gonna have to find a way to watch)
It’s a beautiful day in Kobe and I am way too early for school…but at least I wasn’t the first one there. So I think 1 train later is ok.
Muslim women in Japan →
I learned from this blog that most bread in Japan may have traces of animal fat, which is ANNOYING. Basically they’re trying to avoid meat almost altogether since preparation methods are unknown, which puts them in the same category as me trying to avoid meat because I hate it/it could make me sick after 10 years of not eating it.
Besides the meat angle, fascinating for obvious reasons.
I’m tempted to buy a 16 oz bottle of vanilla - maybe that’s jumping ahead of my lack of convection oven
I’m expecting this will cost about $100 with shipping, but whatever. Food is important.
I want delicious food that I’ve cooked by myself right now. But I don’t have spices. This will be remedied.
Going to Osaka :) :)
I am awkwardly standing here w iPhone while cleaners are cleaning. The powers that be told me to stay at home during though.
cultural mishaps
Instead of making 10,000 twitter posts I’m making a longer post while the cleaners do their magic. (It’s a long story but I’m not paying for it either.) By the end of today I will have a clean apartment and SOME furniture! And, universe willing, I will have bought a washer that will be delivered tomorrow. The last one’s a stretch, but not the next-day delivery part.
...
Apartment gets cleaned day!! I need to figure out what I’m going to awkwardly do while the cleaners are working.
Also, every time I come here some new political crazy shows up. This time it’s http://bit.ly/2WxuwR
Honolulu buses have made me unafraid of Japanese buses. I didn’t know how to read a schedule before (!)
DPJ people were out at subway station, tempted to say something “yes we can!” ish to them, afraid they would give me “you’re weird’ look.
http://twitpic.com/eizmi - Hello mcdonalds! I don’t understand.
